On writing the book

Writing the book was highly enjoyable. That's the thing about writing something that is based on real experience. You have only to close your eyes and remember all the little things that were interwoven in the tapestry of  a day in your life. In this case, it was 365 days, except for major holidays and sick days, of new experiences, most of them hilarious and eternally burned in my memory.

Pretty soon, you'll get a sneak preview of certain chapters. But don't wait, buy your copy today. Click the link below:

More Q & A with the author!

Blogger: Although the book is 70 pages long, it feels complete. Did you think of making it longer?
Author: Yes, I did. It was a bit longer at first, but after several edits, it just flowed better as it is now. Besides, 70 is a good number.
Blogger: Indeed, it is. What are your hopes with the book?
Author: You mean besides that millions of people would buy it? (Laughs) No, really, my hope is that in this chaotic economic climate people can have an escape and a way of channeling their frustration, librarians included.
Blogger: You do cover some controversial topics, such as budget cuts, questionable library procedures and rude patrons.
Author: And these are all real topics. These are topics that librarians face daily, and for that matter, patrons do too.
Blogger: You were a Library Page when you started writing this?
Author: No, I wrote it later, but it does cover my time as a Library Page.
Blogger: How soon can we expect the book to be released?
Author: Very soon.

Q & A with the author!

This is a short sample of a Q&A with the celebrated and popular author. The rest will be posted soon!

Blogger: Hi, thank you for taking the time to answer my questions.
Author: My pleasure. This way the readers can get to know me more, plus I happen to enjoy interviews.
Blogger: Great. We'll get right to it. What inspired you to write this book?
Author: In my time at the...Anonymous Branch, I had some many amazing and unbelievable experiences that I had to share with the world. It was a writer's dream come true.
Blogger: So most of these are true stories?
Author: Oh yes. The names have been changed, but the facts pretty much remained the same.
Blogger: So, Robert Pierce, your boss in the book, is really that selfish and unpredictable.
Author: Yes he is, and that's what makes him hilarious. You never know what he's thinking of next!
Blogger: (laughs) I agree, his character was really funny.
Author: I'm sure Robert will be glad to hear that.
Blogger: Yes, I'm sure he would. Why did you write the book in this format, in anecdotes?
Author: I've always pictured the book as a TV show, because that's what I thought when I was there. I remember thinking, "why isn't there a reality show about this wonderful and crazy people?" Although there is a chronological order and there's a theme uniting each chapter, they can stand alone on their own, like a sitcom.

The rest of the Q&A to come soon! Don't forget to get a copy of the book that has all the critics and advanced readers laughing! Coming out in two weeks!

Characters reacting to the recent news of budget cuts

It took me almost two years to finish the book, writing on and off. During that time, many things have changed in my life and in the library system. As I mentioned earlier, now they want to close down 13 libraries. We will know for sure by September. What would the characters on the book (some loosely based on real people) say about this?

This is what the branch manager, Robert Pearce would say:

"I can't believe that they want to shut down 13 public libraries! They might as well tell the kids to drop out of school and become alcoholics."

Endorsements for the book

This book is a collection of hilarious (mostly) true stories that happened to me while working at the Miami Dade Public Library System. Although I did deal with the issue of Budget Cuts in the book, I could have never guessed how bad things are getting. They are proposing to close over a dozen branches and they are probably going to lay off nearly 200 employees. But well, more on that craziness later.

Here are a few wonderful endorsements for the book:

"Way funnier than my book!" - Tina Phey

"The best book of the decade." - A 10-year-old

"The Office meets the Library." - A TV fanatic and avid reader

"This is my favorite book of all time!" - My wife

The ebook comes out this summer! Details coming soon!
